Frequently Asked Questions

My books are a complete disaster. Do I need to organize them before I hire you?

Absolutely not. In fact, please don’t try to fix them yourself. I specialize in Historical Clean-Up projects. Whether you are six months or two years behind, bringing me a messy shoebox of receipts or a tangled spreadsheet is completely normal. I will untangle the mess, reconcile your accounts, and get you a clean slate so you can finally see where your business stands.

Am I locked into a long-term contract for monthly bookkeeping?

No. I operate on a fractional, plug-and-play model. My ongoing bookkeeping and advisory services are billed month-to-month. I want to earn your business every 30 days by providing consistent, high-level strategic value—not by trapping you in a suffocating annual contract.

How do I send you my tax documents and bank statements?

Your privacy and data security are my highest priorities. I maintain a strict policy against exchanging sensitive financial information (like bank statements, SSNs, or payroll records) via standard email. Once you become a client, you will be given access to my bank-level encrypted file-sharing software, allowing you to upload your vital documents safely and securely.

I just have a small “side hustle.” Am I too small to hire an accountant?

Not at all. I have specific service tiers designed specifically for solopreneurs and hobbyists. If you don’t have enough transaction volume to justify monthly bookkeeping, I offer quarterly financial reviews and basic Schedule C tax filing. Setting up your financial foundation correctly while you are small is the easiest way to ensure you are ready to scale later.

Can I hire you just to file my taxes, or do I have to use your bookkeeping services too?

You can absolutely hire me just for tax preparation. I handle standalone Corporate (1120, 1120S, 1065) and Individual (1040) returns. However, clients who bundle my tax preparation with ongoing monthly bookkeeping gain a massive advantage, as I am able to implement tax-saving strategies year-round rather than scrambling right before the filing deadline.

What makes Books By Brittany different from a traditional CPA firm?

Most traditional tax firms act as historians. They look at your past transactions once a year, file the paperwork, and send you a bill. Because I spent eight years running my own successful ventures, I operate as a strategist. I don’t just crunch the numbers; I translate them into plain English so you can make actionable decisions about your cash flow, hiring plans, and growth strategies. I speak “Founder” just as fluently as I speak the tax code.
